Does anyone attend UOP Axia College? I need to know when they give disbursements. ?
Q. I think this is after two blocks (four classes). Is this correct. Time is coming and I cannot get a hold of my financial counselor. I am beginning to get worried. I complete my second block at the beginning of next week.

A. I honestly don't know. Your counselor should have a back person to assist. Call the main number tell them who your counselor is and ask for his/her back up or the manager.

Has anybody attended Axia College of University of Phoenix Online and how was your experience?
Q. I want to go back to school to finish my degree and University of Phoenix has a program I'm interested in and their program can be complete online, which works well with my work schedule. I'm just curious as to other people's experience with the school. Can you specify what industry you're pursuing? I'm looking to complete an AA in Information Technology and then a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology/Software Engineering.

A. I am currently attending Axia of UOP and I am very pleased with the way the classes are formed and handled. Class sizes can are typically small and you can get lots of help when needed. My couselors, (Academic and Finance) contact me quite often to make sure things are going well. Should I have any questions the instructors are always prompt to respond and almost all even given you their personal number so that you can call them should time for email or posting your news group not permit. Like anything in life, it's what you make of it. I will be very honest and say that it takes a lot of time and interaction to be successful in this class. Lacking the classroom setting can be difficult for people who are a visual learner. You must… [cont.]

I am really at my wits end with Axia college?
Q. I am currently attending Axia college online and they have my financial aid so messed up that I can't get into another college because at this point it is showing that I owe the college money -I have called my financial lender to see if the hold up was on their side and they informed me that the school hasn't had me enrolled for the past six months - which is past my grace period so now I have to start paying those loans back, even though I still have months left of school. I have called the school many, many times to try and resolve this and my financial counselor said that she sent my account to her manager - whom has not returned one of my phone calls since I started the school. So, I have been doing this with the school for a little… [cont.]

A. Have you tried contacting the ombudsman with the United States Department of Education? The ombudsman is there to help individuals with problems regarding their financial aid and the colleges themselves. The toll free telephone number is 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).

A. An idea is to approach Axia College's tutor office. They offer free tutoring to its currently enrolled students. The tutors have to meet a minimum requirement such as a grade in a particular course or a college major. It should be listed in your student handbook on where to locate the office. I almost forgot that I have a friend who uses a tutor for one subject, and her grades and understanding of the material improved. Also approach your instructor for more help.

I am attending the axia college of the university of phoenix this term HELP!?
Q. I was attending University of Phoenix this term but I was on academic probation. So I did well in retaking the course and earned a C up until this point. Last night the final assignment was due and I turned it in 3 minutes late. According to the University rules the assignment cannot be accepted late, I will fail in the course and my loans will need to be payed back before I can ever attend another college. I am 25 years old and repaying my loans will take 3-4 years at the least. I am in the midst of a tragedy, I think I have permanently ended my education. Can someone help me? Is there a method of appealing to an instructors mercies or the administration or something I can do to fix this problem. I have had all A's accept for this class. [cont.]

A. Call your academic counselor. Talk with them and talk to your instructor, write a good letter about what is happening and see what you can do. You need to take action to have this resolved. I go there and I am actually dropping because I realized that I can go to the community college full time, live in student housing and with everything needed (tuition, books, tools, car, food, housing), I will be spending the cost of axia s tuition alone. And truly I have only learned how to write a paper nothing else.

A. The nice people at CalState system put up a search tool for you. UC system was nice enough to do the same. If you're going to do it online, why does it matter where the school is? You can take courses at Harvard and Oxford online (and UC-Berkeley) if you want to. The really nice thing about online learning is that you aren't bound by where you are. The online program search tool at Petersons.com is very useful for this sort of search. Colleges are adding online programs all the time though - sometimes you find the best programs by searching the web of schools that you like and seeing what they offer. UC-Berkeley does an online certificate in accounting for example that is VERY well respected (and very hard).

A. you will have to update your FAFSA with the school code for the new school. I would do it fast, as sometimes it can take forever to process. Call the new school to find out if they got the information and to find out how their process works, most financial aid offices are very similar but they all have their own ways of running things

Withdrawing from Phoenix to attend Local college, financial aid help!?!?
Q. I attended University of Phoenix (2008) and took 2 classes, I decided to drop out for personal reasons I received financial aid for the 2 classes, and a pell grant of 3000 dollars. For 2009 (A totally new year) I put in my community college's school code on my Fasfa and enrolled, got on a payment plan and am set to go, just waiting for my school to process my financial aid. Will the fact that I dropped the classes at Phoenix stop my financial aid from going through with my community collge? What can I do?! I know I will have to pay phoenix what I owe them, but I will still be able to get Aid and my pell grabt for my new school, right? Oh just to add, I dont care if I get my credits from phoenix, or "axia" because my college wont take… [cont.]
Asked by Isabele - Thu Sep 3 01:11:50 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your community college will not allow you to receive financial aid until you turn in all your transcripts from all previous colleges you have attended. Including Axia and or Phoenix. It doesn't matter if they will not accept them for credit. Axia and Phoenix will not release your official transcripts to you until you pay your bill with them. If you 'Forget" to list these schools on your admission application at the community college, they will still know about them. If you owe on a federal Pell grant from an overpayment to a school, you can not get any financial aid no matter what school you attend until you repay the amount you owe for dropping out in the middle of a semester.

A. I got my masters in Administration of Justice from university of phoenix. The school is very worker friendly. There are no tests, just papers that are due each week and you have to make sure you are participating in the discussions at least 3 times a week. You really get better with your writing skills because you normally wouldnt write as many papers with a regular school. But it is very legit and it really helps you out in the workforce, it helped me get promoted. I reccomend it. Good Luck!!

I am in default!!!?
Q. I attend Axia College of University of Phoenix (warning: dont attend that college!!) I received my aid for the year and being that I attended a previous university all my loans went into deferment...except for one and that was the Perkins Loan under the previous school. I didn't even know it was time for repayment because I paid the school off when I had another loan with them and after that they would send me a bill over and over but the Amount Due would always be 0.00. All of a sudden I get a phone call from a debt collector saying I was in default of the loan. Once she found out I was a full-time student she said that Axia should have picked this up and put it in deferment also, but that didn't happen. So I called Axia and it seem like… [cont.]

A. I would mention getting a lawyer involved... They usually don't like that. If it was indeed the SCHOOLS fault for not sending in the paperwork, it's THEIR responsibility to get it fixed... I would also mention that due to it being their default, that they need to take the steps to get it taken off of your credit! There are lawyers that will help free of charge, or help for little to no money down... Talk to someone who knows the laws there better. Best of luck

What's your experience with University of Phoenix?
Q. I attend Axia College of the University of Phoenix. I want anyone's/everyone's opinion and knowledge of the school. I have been told I am wasting my money; yet with employers around here, I have been told that they are nationally accredited so of course the credentials are merited. Let me know your experience. I mostly want to know about AXIA...I am studying for my Associates degree in Health Care Administration. I am in my second block of classes, and I am finding that they are fairly challenging. It really depends on the instructor. So far, out of my 4 instructors 3 of them have been very good, and will not give an easy A (or B for that matter). A. UOP is for adult students. As such, the the emphasis is on accreditation needs to be carefully examined. Is it legit? Yes, according to the governing bodies. However, it's a different sort of accreditation than what you'd get form Harvard. I did my MBA online at UOP and it's helped my career tremendously. Read-up on the accreditation section at Universityofphoenix.org to double-check your decision. I don't think you'll regret UOP.

A. If you had already completed the FAFSA prior to attending UOP the school may be able to request a "late disbursement" of your aid to cover the tuition costs. Talk to the financial aid office. No, they cannot transfer your balance to the other school.

A. If your current balance is a negative dollar amount, then that is how much you are getting back. From the way that you posted the info, I cannot really tell if those numbers are meant to be negative or not since you have 2 out of 3 in parentheses, etc.

How can I get my financial aid or student loan money from my university?
Q. I am attending University of Phoenix - Axia College, and I have been in attendance for my classes for 4 weeks now. I have been getting the run around about when I get my finances dispersed. I am getting fed up with these people. I have called the bank and they have not even received my information. When I call my financial advisor she is never at her desk and very rarely calls back. I feel that they are prolonging this process, in order to keep the money. I have been reading reviews and other people have had the same problems. Can someone help me PLEASE???/
Asked by courtneymsmith_2006 - Fri Jul 17 19:17:55 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Something isn't right if the bank doesn't have information on your loan. Your loan money should have already been dispersed. I just took out a loan and the bank gave me the exact date that it was to be dispersed. If I were you I would go into the financial aid office(don't call) and demand that you be given answers about your loan! This isn't right and something needs to be done about it!
