Q. I think this is after two blocks (four classes). Is this correct. Time is coming and I cannot get a hold of my financial counselor. I am beginning to get worried. I complete my second block at the beginning of next week.

A. I honestly don't know. Your counselor should have a back person to assist. Call the main number tell them who your counselor is and ask for his/her back up or the manager.

I filled out my FASFA with the help of a counselor and have been taking classes every since. I am very happy with my experience. Now I know you are going to hear alot of rumors that I have not run into. The first two classes are simple, a back to basics as you would say. But after that the classes are challenging and fun. I am a Criminal Justice major working on a Associates and plan on finishing up with a Bachelors with them. I have a few friends who have already graduated working very decent jobs. Axia College of the University of Phoenix Students...?
Q. I currently attend AXIA and am soon approaching my third block of classes. I've a flash drive to save all of my reading material, appendices, and completed assignments. However, as I was transferring some files earlier, I've lost the folder that contained my first block materials, specifically for COM120 and IT105. This isn't an emergency, but I'd still like to have the information on hand just as reference material. If there is anyone out there that happens to have this information on file, I'd very much appreciate it if you could possibly email the files to me, so that I can save them. What I need are: *Course Calendar *COM120 Syllabus and Appendices (A thru I) *IT105 Syllabus and Appendices (A thru I) Thank you so much!!! … [cont.]

What is the best online degree program?
Q. I will be attending Axia College of University of Phoenix, and I was just wondering what the best degree from them would be. I know some are going to scoff at me and say "You can do nothing with a degree from Axia", and quite honestly I do not care. I am going to school for nobody but myself, and your opinion on for-profit schools is not going to change my mind about anything. All I want to know is what degree would be the best out of the ones that they offer. I am most interested in something in the health care field, or becoming a preschool teacher.

Who can I contact if I believe my school is stealing from me?
Q. I am currently attending Axia College of University of Phoenix. My academic counselor cannot tell me why I have an outstanding balance!
Asked by jazmin s - Fri Nov 20 14:54:41 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You have an outstanding balance because your aid (grants and loans) did not cover all the cost of your tuition and fees. Real schools cost around 100 a credit hour. For profit schools cost over 350 a credit hour. This is not stealing... (when you signed up for classes you agreed to pay this ridiculously high price). Most people can't get enough aid to pay for ALL of it.

A. I had a lot of trouble with that site as well when I was at Western International University. What I had to do was disable my firewall software and add the site to my trusted list via the Privacy tab of the Options menu of Internet Explorer. Give that a shot. Oh, and allow all cookies. As soon as you get off that site, turn it all back on though.

I dropped 3 college classes and now I am $3k in debt. How can I get into another school before it pay them off?
Q. I have four classes left at Axia College of University of Phoenix before I get my Associates degree. I have been experiencing a complicated pregnancy (I was unable to participate in class), so I dropped 3 classes because my grades were dropping, and now I owe them $3k. I was called up a few days before my classes were suppose to restart. I was told that I had three months to pay off the total amount of $3k. I don't have that kind of money; they should have been paid by financial aid anyway. I thought that it would be best for me to enter another school while trying to pay them off. I'm trying to finish up as soon as possible (I have a little one on the way). Will I be able to attend another college while in debt with this one? They are… [cont.]

A. They could not use financial aid money because you dropped classes. So you owe them the money. HOWEVER, the best course is probably to make nice. You dropped those classes, so technically you did not spend $3000 of tuition. They also didn't get $3K they wanted from government. Since they are holding your transcripts anyway, try to work out a more reasonable payment plan. Maybe you can compromise at $1000 during the month's before you graduate. They know they will get paid or you won't graduate. And you will have saved $2000.

A. I got my masters in Administration of Justice from university of phoenix. The school is very worker friendly. There are no tests, just papers that are due each week and you have to make sure you are participating in the discussions at least 3 times a week. You really get better with your writing skills because you normally wouldnt write as many papers with a regular school. But it is very legit and it really helps you out in the workforce, it helped me get promoted. I reccomend it. Good Luck!!

Q. I attend Axia College of the University of Phoenix. I want anyone's/everyone's opinion and knowledge of the school. A. UOP is for adult students. As such, the the emphasis is on accreditation needs to be carefully examined. Is it legit? Yes, according to the governing bodies. However, it's a different sort of accreditation than what you'd get form Harvard. I did my MBA online at UOP and it's helped my career tremendously. Read-up on the accreditation section at Universityofphoenix.org to double-check your decision. I don't think you'll regret UOP.

A. The other two responses are absolutely correct. However, since you haven't told us anything about yourself, and there are places where such a degree would be acceptable, I can't tell you for sure that this would be a bad move. For example, if you have already been working for your employer successfully, and you need a particular degree in order to be able to move up, you may be okay. That is particularly true of masters degrees in a few fields. You would also need to have an employer who is not terribly educated him- or herself, so that s/he wouldn't much care. Also, if you are active military, or sometimes even home caring for several kids, it might be considered acceptable. However, if you are just graduating from high school… [cont.]

How do I get an invalid debt removed from my college account?
Q. I attended Western International University/Axia College around August of 2006. The advisors and administration messed up my paperwork so badly that while I was still attending full time, my financial aid was ended (due to me supposedly no longer being in school even though I was just on a week long approved leave). After this drama, I quit going to school once my classes ended. Rather than allowing me to stop like I requested, they went ahead and put me in the next set of classes, and after requesting to be removed from the program about 5 times, they finally did in the middle-creating an invalid debt. I have spent 1.5 years trying to remove this debt, only to be transferred to the Collections department AKA a voicemail machine. They… [cont.]

A. I experienced something similar several years ago and wound up going directly to the Comptroller of the college. I had a copy of the financial aid check that I'd been given but had returned to the school. I also went to my department head and asked him to write a letter vouching for the fact that I had chosen to drop out of the school and had not taken any classes whatsoever for the semester. When I explained everything to the Comptroller and showed the letter from the school dean, I was finally able to rid myself of the problems of being held responsible for financial aid that I never used. Good luck.

Good luck.

A. If you had already completed the FAFSA prior to attending UOP the school may be able to request a "late disbursement" of your aid to cover the tuition costs. Talk to the financial aid office. No, they cannot transfer your balance to the other school.
