Degree from Axia College or University of Phoenix?
Q. Has anyone received one then have trouble finding a job? I'm enrolled in it now, but I might transfer because I don't want to be looked down upon from companies.

A. I disagree with the degree coming from a lesser school. I am an MBA student with UOP. My company sent me there. Keep in mind that the school is designed for working adults with an education model geared to working adults. They teach application over theory. You are not buying a degree. What you are doing is taking concepts and relating them to real world scenarios. It seems that the degree may be 'bought' because there are no test involved. What is actually being taught are the skills necessary to be productive in the workforce and advance your career. Companies are addressing skills gaps within their workforce. Companies are trying to do more with less. How do they do this? They need individuals trained to have better communication skills, [cont.]

A. Axia College is the University of Phoenix's equivilant of a community college. They were talking about bringing this portion of the college out some time ago, and my guess it that it has been out now for a few months. The purpuse of Axia is to provide a flexible, on-line way of easing people back into the educational process and providing non-traditional learners with the opportunity to go back to college. The degrees are fully accredited associate degrees and will prepare people for more specialized jobs or allow them to go on to a four year college. Then Uo P picks them up for the last two years of there undergrad program or their graduate program, if they so choose. Why did the break off Axia from the main Phoenix program? In was, in… [cont.]

Is axia college the same as university of phoenix?
Q. I am pretty sure I did everything for signing up for school through phoenix university. However now I am enrolled in Axia college of university of phoenix. I just assumed it was just a division of the school because it was so large. Then while browsing online, I came across some chats making me think that I am getting a degree from Axia and not UOP. What the heck. If I wanted to go to a college not a university I wouldn't be paying the outrageous prices. Let me know anything please

A. "And many states don't recognize UOP degrees due to accreditation issues." Posters please indicate which states don't accept regional accreditation as sufficient in their state. I believe you will find that this is simply not true. Uo P is regionally accredited just like the state U in every state - this is not the issue. The issue is that the reputation of Uo P is not so hot (regionally accredited or not). Uo P has earned a poor reputation in the world of academia whether or not it is deserved. That reputation can cause you problems later. Axia is the community college division of University of Phoenix. Some people believe this was a way to separate the business from the bad reputation of Uo P. "If I wanted to go to a… [cont.]

Has anyone went to Axia college online? And have you had problems with the financial aid?
Q. I am currently going to school there and I have had nothing but problems with the financial aid. I am considering transferring but I'm not sure how to go about doing it and keeping my financial aid and credits. I know that some credits may not transfer. But I have this feeling that this school is scamming me and possibly others. I have tried to talk to my financial aid counsler when she returns my calls. And several other advisors and I just keep getting different answers to the same question. This involves the pell grant.

A. I have been a member of Axia college for almost a year now. It will be a year in December and I absolutely love it along with a lot of other people. Financial aid comes with a lot of issues but it's not the schools fault. Your financial aid has everything to do with the government and nothing with the school. I would suggest finding some reliable resources and calling to ask some questions. If you don't mind me asking, what exact problems are you having with your financial aid? How long ago did you enroll? Maybe it's possible that you are not talking to the right people or asking the right questions. I suggest calling your finance counselor and your academic counselor for help. Axia college is a wonderful school and people get frustrated… [cont.]

A. Call or write the Registrar's office (transfer student department) at San Francisco State. There are two issues you should ask about: Do they accept any courses from the University of Phoenix, which is an online degree program? If they do accept U of Phoenix credits, which of the courses that comprise the AA Business program at Axia College will apply toward the four degree you wish to complete? Actually, you will need to send this last inquiry in writing, including the courses that are included in the Axia College degree. s

A. Very, very few colleges or universities include the costs of textbooks in their tuition. Your bill that you will get from the college includes the tuition cost (pay the professor, operating costs, etc.), room and board (the minimum double oocupancy 20x20 room and a meal plan consisting of 100% fat and starch in a barely edible form) and miscellaneous charges for activities fees and such. Books are almost always extra, as each professor chooses what texts he wants to use. Of course they will pick the most expensive books. That is why they are mentioning financial aid. You can get any number of grants or loans to cover these costs. That is, if you qualify for financial aid. You literally have to be from a family that is barely above poverty… [cont.]

A. I've been doing a lot of research on online schools and degrees. US News and World Report does a lot of college and university research. I work for one of the largest global companies, and I asked a few human resources people a couple of questions about online degrees. Some of the younger HR people were a little more willing to accept the online degrees just like a traditional school. But, if you only mention school names, they don't seem to differentiate between online and traditional. So...I looked up a bunch of traditional schools that offer online degrees so that I could complete my few credits to finish my bachelor, and hopefully then my master's degree. Here are some that I've found, good luck. Oh, by the way some of these are a lot… [cont.]

A. The easiest way to find out is to see if they're accredited, and make sure they're accredited by the same group that accredits other colleges in your area. In my area, it's the North Central Association, but I don't know about your area. Another good thing to check is to call a different local university and ask them if they'd accept transfer credits from Axia College or University of Phoenix Online. If they won't take the transfer credits, they're not worth much. And don't let the Axia College people tell you accreditation doesn't matter. A lot of bad, fringe schools try to say that. Some even lie and say Harvard and Yale aren't accredited. That's a load.

A. I am currently attending Axia of UOP and I am very pleased with the way the classes are formed and handled. Class sizes can are typically small and you can get lots of help when needed. My couselors, (Academic and Finance) contact me quite often to make sure things are going well. Should I have any questions the instructors are always prompt to respond and almost all even given you their personal number so that you can call them should time for email or posting your news group not permit. Like anything in life, it's what you make of it. I will be very honest and say that it takes a lot of time and interaction to be successful in this class. A. The Axia College of University of Phoenix has a website that is the Financial Aid Website (FAW) and the connection to getting to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Both are ways to gain access to money for school. FAFSA is a quick and easy way to perhaps get a lot of Federal Aid if you qualify, so it is worth applying for.

What colleges in Dallas,Texas area will accept credit from Axia college of University of Phoenix? Please help?
Q.
Asked by krusheth - Fri Oct 3 09:26:05 2008 - Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers - Comments

A. The University of Phoenix as a whole (including Axia) is regionally accredited. That means that those credits should be eligible to transfer to any university or college. Any college, looking at transfer credits from any regionally accredited college, will take them on a case-by-case basis. But yours are eligible to transfer. Do call admissions at the unis that interest you most, and speak to them about transferring there. When you send them your transcripts, they'll let you know what can and can not transfer.
