Is axia college the same as university of phoenix?
Q. I am pretty sure I did everything for signing up for school through phoenix university. However now I am enrolled in Axia college of university of phoenix. I just assumed it was just a division of the school because it was so large. Then while browsing online, I came across some chats making me think that I am getting a degree from Axia and not UOP. What the heck. If I wanted to go to a college not a university I wouldn't be paying the outrageous prices. Let me know anything please

A. "And many states don't recognize UOP degrees due to accreditation issues." Posters please indicate which states don't accept regional accreditation as sufficient in their state. I believe you will find that this is simply not true. UoP is regionally accredited just like the state U in every state - this is not the issue. The issue is that the reputation of UoP is not so hot (regionally accredited or not). UoP has earned a poor reputation in the world of academia whether or not it is deserved. That reputation can cause you problems later. Axia is the community college division of University of Phoenix. Some people believe this was a way to separate the business from the bad reputation of UoP. "If I wanted to go to a college not a… [cont.]

Is Axia College (University of Phoenix) a "real" college?
Q. I'm thinking of going back to school but as a single mom working FT with two boys I need an online school. I've googled Axia College (U of P) but I have been getting mixed reviews. Has anyone ever gone through U of P Axia College for their degree?

A. It is a 'real' school. That being said they charge waaay to much for tuition. Consider other online options before you commit since the price can really break you.

Is Axia College of University of Phoenix Online a legit college or a ripoff?
Q. I am worried that I wll be stuck with the student loans and no credible education.
Asked by afox1191 - Wed Jul 12 08:51:35 2006 - - 4 Answers - 2 Comments
A. The easiest way to find out is to see if they're accredited, and make sure they're accredited by the same group that accredits other colleges in your area. In my area, it's the North Central Association, but I don't know about your area. Another good thing to check is to call a different local university and ask them if they'd accept transfer credits from Axia College or University of Phoenix Online. If they won't take the transfer credits, they're not worth much. And don't let the Axia College people tell you accreditation doesn't matter. A lot of bad, fringe schools try to say that. Some even lie and say Harvard and Yale aren't accredited. That's a load.

Axia College University of Phoenix will not release my Pell grant .?
Q. What can I do, I need the money for school supplys. The school has said there was an oversite and the money would be mailed within a week. Still no check. All of my classes are already paid for, with a credit for my next courses sitting in my account. They will not let me talk to the accounting department to ask any questions. Please give me some suggestions.

A. They are going to keep ALL of that money for future classes! Axia (Phonix) is a ripoff! They charged me $1600 for two classes during a 9 week period, and these classes are NOT transferable to a regular school! Do yourself a favor and go to community college or a regular university!

Thomas Edison State College vs. Axia College of University of Phoenix?
Q. Which school is better
Asked by Melissa T - Mon Sep 10 16:40:33 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Thomas Edison, far and away. U of Phoenix has gained itself a reputation such that many employers absolutely refuse to hire their graduates. Thomas Edison isn't a highly competitive school re: admissions, and it isn't exactly Harvard, but at least it's reputable. I can't say that about U of Phoenix.

Can you transfer into a traditional university with an Axia College degree?
Q. Hello, A couple of years ago I started to earn my AA degree through Axia College at the University of Phoenix. I am well aware of the problems associated with this school, however due to my circumstances this was the best option for me. I'm now about a week away from finishing my AA with Axia and my experience has mostly been positive. My only concern is what will happen when I try to transfer my degree to a traditional college here in Florida. Has anyone tried to transfer their Axia college degree to a four year University? If so what was the process like? What should I expect? Did all your credits transfer over such as math, science, etc. Thanks for any responses

A. First understand that no college/university is ever required to transfer in credit from any other college/university - it's entirely up to the college in question. There are some that are exceptionally generous with transfers (Excelsior, Charter Oak, Thomas Edison) and some that are exceedingly strict (Princeton, USMA, Air Force Academy); most are generally reasonable. By "reasonable" I mean that they follow a typical pattern with these rules (more or less): * The credit transferring must have been earned at a regionally accredited institution. (Axia is) * The course content must be current. (computer science or nursing courses from 1988, for example, are way out of date in material) * The course must meet a degree requirement of the… [cont.]

Do Axia College (a branch off of Pheonix University) makes you pay for your own books?
Q. By reading the guidelines about the school it only pays for tuition but the student has to pay for the the books. But one of the counselors I talked to said finacial aid should cover everything that's if I don't get enough money to pay for my books.

A. Very, very few colleges or universities include the costs of textbooks in their tuition. Your bill that you will get from the college includes the tuition cost (pay the professor, operating costs, etc.), room and board (the minimum double oocupancy 20x20 room and a meal plan consisting of 100% fat and starch in a barely edible form) and miscellaneous charges for activities fees and such. Books are almost always extra, as each professor chooses what texts he wants to use. Of course they will pick the most expensive books. That is why they are mentioning financial aid. You can get any number of grants or loans to cover these costs. That is, if you qualify for financial aid. You literally have to be from a family that is barely above poverty… [cont.]

University of Phoenix - Axia College (online) Is it challenging?
Q. Hello to all. I have decided to take online course at the University of Phoenix to obtain an Associates in Business. Although I worked on and off in the Administrative field for 10 years, I still wanted to earn a degree as a backup. I have been taking online classes since January and I've been making straight A's. Ok...I know ME...and I was never a straight A student, in highschool or on my past college campus. So my question is, do you find this college to be challenging? Do you think they're throwing good grades just because they want money? Any feedback would help! Thanks in advance!
Asked by Re Re - Thu Apr 15 01:21:36 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No, it's not challenging at all. Most people that go there either don't have the grades for a good school or they don't have the time to attend a real university. So most other people don't really study that much either. There's a reason the school has a 1-800 number and advertises to you. It's more of a product they are selling to you than an education. Often times they add classes over time, so people take even longer for their degrees and may never get it. Their graduation rate is pretty low from what I've heard. As a matter of fact, I don't think any of these schools with 1-800 numbers are really good schools. I mean you don't even have to pay for the phone call to call them. So you figure it out. I wouldn't really recommend going… [cont.]

Does anybody know of colleges that have at once accepted University of Phoenix - Axia College credits?
Q. I understand that it's circumstantial and from case to case. Sometimes, but I was curious if anybody had a possible list or knew of a few colleges that did indeed accept Axial College credits. (Associates of Arts in General Studies) On the website, it lists very few colleges that have an agreement with Axia College (mainly, if not all, only associate as the highest degree possible.) I'm hoping to pursue a bachelors or higher. Also, list experiences if you have any with how your credits transferred, how much was a waste (considering our classes cost $1,035 for tuition EACH and $78.75 for materials EACH it d be a waste if a lot of classes did not transfer.) I'm on my third and forth classes. (Since we take them in pairs and each… [cont.]

A. No. there aren't any colleges or universities that accept University of Phoenix credits. It's a scam. The school will take your money and your credits will not transfer. I suggest that you talk to a counselor at a college that you want to go to. Ask him/her about the University of Phoenix.

Q. I understand that it's circumstantial and from case to case. Sometimes, but I was curious if anybody had a possible list or knew of a few colleges that did indeed accept Axial College credits. How much disbursement money can I expect to get back from university of phoenix Axia college?
Q. I guess im getting all the loans.. Stafford, Plus.. etc.. and a pell grant. This is my first time attending college and I don't quite understand how they figure everything out... I know its 2,080 $ for my classes this semester. How much, roughly, do you think i will be getting back on my disbursement check. Also, is anyone else having problems with AXIA.. they are saying it will take 30-45 business days to even process thing. Everyone is saying their school only takes 2 weeks form when school starts to get their disbursement checks..

A. Well it all depends on what your pell grant and loans amount to. Out of that money they will hold money for 2 sets of classes so approx 4160 and then refund you the excess. This amount varies due to how much you qualify for on your Pell grant. My husband is in week 5 of his class and still has yet to see an award letter to let him know how much he is getting back. He was told it takes 30 to 60 days to receive any type of refund. Some take longer and some take shorter, depends on whether you are picked for verfication process or not. Goodluck !
