Is axia college the same as university of phoenix?
Q. I am pretty sure I did everything for signing up for school through phoenix university. However now I am enrolled in Axia college of university of phoenix. I just assumed it was just a division of the school because it was so large. Then while browsing online, I came across some chats making me think that I am getting a degree from Axia and not UOP. What the heck. If I wanted to go to a college not a university I wouldn't be paying the outrageous prices. Let me know anything please

A. "And many states don't recognize UOP degrees due to accreditation issues." Posters please indicate which states don't accept regional accreditation as sufficient in their state. I believe you will find that this is simply not true. UoP is regionally accredited just like the state U in every state - this is not the issue. The issue is that the reputation of UoP is not so hot (regionally accredited or not). UoP has earned a poor reputation in the world of academia whether or not it is deserved. That reputation can cause you problems later. Axia is the community college division of University of Phoenix. Some people believe this was a way to separate the business from the bad reputation of UoP. "If I wanted to go to a college not a… [cont.]

A. With UOP, it really depends on your field of study and total resume. I have never had a problem getting a job with any of my nursing degrees: Associates from a private college, Bachelor's from a state university, and Master's from an online university (UOP). I also have worked with 2 other nurses with UOP degrees. But note that UOP and online came after we had earned previous degrees the old fashioned way. Call the governing body for your profession in the state you will be working in. Talk to recruiters/employers before you register. Do they require you to attend a certain type of school? Does you school need to be accredited? By any specific bodies? Use this information when you are looking at any school, not just UOP. UOP is… [cont.]

Has anyone here ever attended the university of phoenix or axia college university of phoenix?
Q. I'm tryna find out if the college is just as good as attending the community college in my city. I know it's an online program as well as a campus program in various states, but it doesn't list the curriculum like it's a big secret nor does it list any information about financial aid or the college tuition. They want u to call in. Any info would be greatly appreciated..

A. I've been doing a lot of research on online schools and degrees. US News and World Report does a lot of college and university research. I work for one of the largest global companies, and I asked a few human resources people a couple of questions about online degrees. Some of the younger HR people were a little more willing to accept the online degrees just like a traditional school. But, if you only mention school names, they don't seem to differentiate between online and traditional. So...I looked up a bunch of traditional schools that offer online degrees so that I could complete my few credits to finish my bachelor, and hopefully then my master's degree. Here are some that I've found, good luck. Oh, by the way some of these are a lot… [cont.]

Has anybody attended Axia College of University of Phoenix Online and how was your experience?
Q. I want to go back to school to finish my degree and University of Phoenix has a program I'm interested in and their program can be complete online, which works well with my work schedule. I'm just curious as to other people's experience with the school. Can you specify what industry you're pursuing? I'm looking to complete an AA in Information Technology and then a Bachelors of Science in Information Technology/Software Engineering.

A. I am currently attending Axia of UOP and I am very pleased with the way the classes are formed and handled. Class sizes can are typically small and you can get lots of help when needed. My couselors, (Academic and Finance) contact me quite often to make sure things are going well. Should I have any questions the instructors are always prompt to respond and almost all even given you their personal number so that you can call them should time for email or posting your news group not permit. Like anything in life, it's what you make of it. I will be very honest and say that it takes a lot of time and interaction to be successful in this class. Lacking the classroom setting can be difficult for people who are a visual learner. You must… [cont.]

A. The easiest way to find out is to see if they're accredited, and make sure they're accredited by the same group that accredits other colleges in your area. In my area, it's the North Central Association, but I don't know about your area. Another good thing to check is to call a different local university and ask them if they'd accept transfer credits from Axia College or University of Phoenix Online. If they won't take the transfer credits, they're not worth much. And don't let the Axia College people tell you accreditation doesn't matter. A lot of bad, fringe schools try to say that. Some even lie and say Harvard and Yale aren't accredited. That's a load.

A. I am a student at Axia and have been for over 6 months, like you I was nervous about an online school and finally said hey I have to start some where. I filled out my FASFA with the help of a counselor and have been taking classes every since. I am very happy with my experience. Now I know you are going to hear alot of rumors that I have not run into. The first two classes are simple, a back to basics as you would say. But after that the classes are challenging and fun. I am a Criminal Justice major working on a Associates and plan on finishing up with a Bachelors with them. I have a few friends who have already graduated working very decent jobs. A. I am currently a student at Axia pursuing a degree in IT and I can't say anything bad about them. My experience has been a good one so far and I'm about at the half-way point. One note though is that I don't hear from my academic counselor that much but that's about it. If you have any other questions just let me know and I will try to answer them for you.

Why do people look down on the University of Phoenix and Axia College?
Q. I have participated in both a traditional University and Axia College. I must say that I have learned more in the 4 classes at Axia than any other realm. The classes force us to discuss things. The projects are not exactly a walk in the park, my advisers are WAY more supportive than when I was at my traditional university, and I get to do it on my time. The professors are helpful and there is plenty of 1 on 1 interaction with them. So whats the deal. The ny times had an article that was proven wrong. People say others WOULD have issues getting jobs when asked about it; most on yahoo that have graduated from UoP said that they are fine. I am actually teaching quite a few people with degrees from the so called "Higher Universities"… [cont.]

A. I understand your point. No, U of P and Axia, they aren't Harvard. They are low tier colleges. But there are low level off-line colleges that don't get the venom directed at U of P and Axia. So why the difference? U of P gets that kind of venom, at least in part, because there is still a strong bias against for profit colleges, and against colleges that are online. U of P is online, is a lower tier college, and is famous. They advertise like mad. So while a grad of, say, Mount Ida College (open admissions, low tier) might get by without a blink because no one has ever heard of Mount Ida, U of P becomes a lightening rod. It's famous for being online. It's famous for being open admissions, with low entry standards. So it gets a lot of venom, [cont.]

A. I am currently enrolled in on the online courses with Axia/UofP. The classes are ok, but I am having major problems with the financial aid portion. I was attending another school prior to Axia and have already been approved for my aid but for some reason Axia expects to me pull personal loans to pay for classes, even though I have financial aid. They claim they do not have access to it, but when I called the bank, I was told that the college hasn't requested it. I would really be careful with the financial portion as I have yet to receive an answer and my account is past due. The financial aid department does not seem to want to deal with it and I have to keep calling them back...still no answers. UPDATE: I finally have an answer.… [cont.]

Does anyone have the late policy for Axia College of the University of Phoenix?
Q. I have completed four courses so far. I have a GPA of 3.8, but I believe it should be a 4.0. I had some assignments I turned in late. I was in isolation for meningitis at the hospital for over 3 days, and I could not complete my assignments on time or within the 4 day limit for late assignments. I have doctors' notes that cover the days of my late assignments, and prove to show I was not able to complete the assignments on time. I will be writing a letter to the head administrator, because I believe in the "real world" your boss will accept late work if you are sick in the hospital. Let me know what you all think.

A. Don't pay any more money for a virtually worthless degree from this place. Employers and graduate schools do not respect their degrees even if the school somehow is accredited. It is a profit making business, not a regular university with professors.

A. Any online 'university' is not a good investment. It takes some time for the financial aid computers to process the refunds though, to be fair to the school.

Starting University of Phoenix Axia College online Monday...questions...?
Q. I have just went through the admissions process and the financial aid forms. My counselor says my classes will start on Monday. He hasn't gotten around to talking about course materials yet. How do they do that? do they send them to you or do you have to order them yourself from somewhere? I was approved for the entire pell grant and he had me fill out another financial aid option. If it is going to take 2 years to complete the course, are they going to charge me up front for the entire 2 years or do year to year.
