From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary study of mind and intelligence. It embraces multiple research disciplines, including psychology, artificial intelligence, philosophy, neuroscience, linguistics, anthropology, sociology and biology. It relies on varying scientific methodology (e.g. behavioral experimentation, computational simulations, neuroimaging, statistical modeling), and spans many levels of analysis of the mind (from low-level learning and decision mechanisms to high-level logic and planning, from neural circuitry to modular brain organization, etc.). The term cognitive science was coined by Christopher Longuet-Higgins in his 1973 commentary on the Lighthill report, which concerned the then-current state of Artificial Intelligence research. In the same decade, the journal Cognitive Science and the Cognitive Science Society were founded. Cognitive science differs from cognitive psychology in that algorithms that are intended to simulate human behavior are implemented or implementable on a computer. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Which major do you find more worthwhile, Sociology or Cognitive Science? Q. I'm interested in becoming a counselor of some sort, and I'm already majoring in Psychology Asked by Dre JAY - Mon Jun 1 19:20:19 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hum...cognitive science is good...sociology is too broad. If you want to focus on one thing and specific, choose cognitive science...if you want a lil bit of everything, go for sociology. Cognitive science is your best bet because its the science of thinking and you want to be a counselor. I'm a behavioral sciences major with a concentration in psychology. I love it because I've taken a little bit of everything. Answered by frenchie - Mon Jun 1 19:31:27 2009 I'd like to study cognitive science, psychology, biology in college in the northeast? Q.
