A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a set of instructions.

Although mechanical examples of computers have existed through much of recorded human history, the first electronic computers were developed in the mid-20th century (1940–1945). These were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers (PCs). Modern computers based on integrated circuits are millions to billions of times more capable than the early machines, and occupy a fraction of the space. Simple computers are small enough to fit into a wristwatch, and can be powered by a watch battery. Personal computers in their various forms are icons of the Information Age and are what most people think of as "computers". The embedded computers found in many devices from MP3 players to fighter aircraft and from toys to industrial robots are however the most numerous.

The ability to store and execute lists of instructions called programs makes computers extremely versatile, distinguishing them from calculators. The Church–Turing thesis is a mathematical statement of this versatility: any computer with a certain minimum capability is, in principle, capable of performing the same tasks that any other computer can perform. Therefore computers ranging from a mobile phone to a supercomputer are all able to perform the same computational tasks, given enough time and storage capacity.

Can connecting another computer to my network influence the connections of the other computers?
Q. I had two computers both connected to a wireless router. Yesterday I connected a third computer to the network and, although the connection goes through for this new computer, one of the original computers now says "Limited or no connectivity" and cannot connect to the Internet. Is it possible that the new computer is using up too much bandwidth and is therefore preventing the other computer from accessing the Internet?

A. ok this is easy enough... first just plug em into eachother, make sure the lights come on when you plug em in... then go to network connections, right click on the blank screen within the window and click on properties... then you should be able to find your network connections somwhere... this may have been on the left in the little navigation tab depending on your version of windows anyways once you find it right click on your local area connection and click properties again, in there scroll down to TCP/IP, if there are two (v4 and v6 then go to v4) once you have clicked that click on properties again and then set your IP on one computer to 192.168.0.1 and the other computer to 192.168.0.2 and set your subnet address to 255.255.255.0 on… [cont.]

How do I transfer photos from two different computers onto my iPod without syncing?
Q. I have two different computers, and both of them have different sets of photos. I could get the photos from one computer easily, but when I try connecting it to the other one, it says that the iPod has to sync and that all photos on it will be replaced from photos on my computers library. I am not able to transfer all my photos on to one computer, so how can I get all those photos on my iPod?

A. You can but you would need to have all the photos from Both computers together in ONE file on ONE computer then sync - simple aye. Just make sure that your iPod has its hard drive enabled in iTunes and then copy the photos onto a folder on the iPod to transfer them> put them in a folder on the second computer and then delete the photo folder on the iPod and sync the iPod with the second computer and you will have ALL of your photos. :)

Computers take many forms, from early room-sized complexes to modern personal computers (PCs) and personal digital assistants (PDAs) to tiny embedded systems that add sophisticated capabilities to other devices like toys and appliances.
