How many credits are in a typical Bachelor's degree with a minor?
Q. My engineering major has 133 required credits. I wish to do a minor in International Business which is 18 credits. Thus, the total comes out 151 credits. Is that the typical credit load of a major/minor, give or take? No lie. Between the general education and the major requirements, there are no free electives.

A. the bachelors degree has 133 credits of required courses, and NONE of these are electives?... does not sound right... If your program allows you to take 6 elective courses, then you could use the IB courses, and still have your 133 credits...

How many credits do I need at a community college before I can transfer to a State university?

A. I believe it's maybe 36 ( a little less than 60 ). It all depends on the college/state university that you're going to. you should visit them/call them or ask them how many hours you need and what classes you might need to take.

How many credits can transfer from a community college to a state accredited university?
Q. Specifically, I used to attend Bergen Community College and transferred over to Rutgers Newark. Currently, Rutgers has accepted all 24 of the credits I took during my first year in college. If I were to attend Bergen Community College over the summer and take course(s). Up to what limit would they stop allowing those credits to be transferred over? New Jersey

A. Whenever you transfer you are always at the mercy of the place you are transferring to. Every place his its own rules, so I'd check with them.

A. NO! Take as close to 12 as you can for your first semester and go from there. You wont ever be able to escape bad grades so take it easy and go up in a semester or two.

How to earn college credits for liberals degree?
Q. How does the whole college system work? I am planning to go to a community college and maybe major in Autobody Repair & Painting. I think that the degree I would be earning from that would be like an AAS, right? I'm not too sure. But yah, I have a friend that says he couldn't get into his major at the moment so he is currently going for his liberals. What is a liberals degree good for? How many credits, or how long would it take to this? Or how does the credit system work with math, english, and all those other classes?
Asked by Justin - Thu Aug 27 18:04:56 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Liberals usually requires math and english, but depending on your field of study it could be different, autobody repair probably requires science class also. I'm sure if you go in to see your college counciler they would be more than happy to help you set up your classes! Not sure what you mean about the credit system? Most classes are a half semester long (either fall or spring), each equalling 3 or so credits, and you need a certain amount of credits to get your degree. Good luck! :]

What credits are required to get into a very good art school?
Q. I really want to get into a good art school with good oppertunities in all types of art. What credits would I need to get into a good art school? And also, what are some of the best art colleges?

A. Well I recently got accepted into the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, it's ranked #3 in the country for art schools and also it has a interdisciplinary system. This means you are able to focus on one type of medium but you can also explore other types... Most art schools only look at your portfolio and standardized test scores being the ACT or SAT. Again it just depends on the school some schools are really big on grades such as The Minneapolis College of Art and Design

How many credits do I have to take a semester if the college requires 134 to graduate?
Q. I am majoring in Math teachers and the requirement to complete the bachelor degree is 134.Do I have to take 18 credits a semester?
Asked by unknown - Thu May 21 07:14:52 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Just under 17 a semester. So, probably 16 credits through a couple of semesters, but 17 the rest. As most classes (unless you're a science major, with a lot of 4 credit classes, and 1 credit labs) are 3 credits, so you'll probably have to do 18 most of your semesters, and 15 credits for one or two. Here's an example Freshman year: Fall: 15 Credits, Spring 18 Credits (33) Sophmore year: Fall: 18 Credits, Spring 18 Credits (69) Junior year: Fall 18 Credits, Spring 15 Credits (102) Summer Internship: 6 Credits (109) Senior Year: Fall 15 Credits, Spring 12 Credits (and a lot of interviewing at either jobs, or graduate programs) Total: 136 Credits

With 90 credits the Navy's Bdcp and the Marines Plc are possibilities. So are Rotc, Nrotc, Afrotc if there are at least two years left till graduation. How many credits are needed to transfer to another university ?
Q. Currently I'm studying at the University of North Dakota. I want to transfer to another university next spring. How many credits do I have to complete to be accepted ?

A. Every school is going to have a different requirement regarding transfer credits and how they process them. However, for the most part, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to transfer to a school regardless of how many credits you currently have. Universities aren't going to really care, because you're still going to have to complete their own requirements (depending on if any of your courses at North Dakota can be used for credit at your new school) anyway. So you can't really have too few credits. If that were the case, how would high schoolers get into college without any credits -- do you see what I mean? On the flip side, though, it is possible to have too many credits at your current university to be accepted at a school. Some… [cont.]

Can someone explain the different education tax credits and deductions?
Q. I am starting my first year of school and have taken out $11,000 in student loans. I am electing to pay the interest only payment on the loans, while I am in school, so the balance doesn't increase. Can anyone explain to me the different education tax credits that are available? Also, am I able to take a tax credit AND deduct the interest paid on my loans (We already deduct the interest on my husband's student loans. He has been out of school for about 6 years now.) ? Also, someone told me that I could deduct mileage for driving to school, is this true? Any information on education related deductions and credits would be helpful, I am new at this. Thanks.

And yes, you can take a deduction for interest in the same year you are taking an education credit. There are basically three different tax breaks for tuition and fees - Hope Credit, Lifetime Learning Credit, and Tuition and Fees Deduction. Each of the three has different rules, and while it's possible to be eligible for all three, in any given year you can only take one of the three for the same student - you'd choose the one that gave you the most benefit. How many credits beyond the 120 am I allowed to take?
Q. I ask because I want to double major, but I've only got a limited number of credits left. If I were to double major now, it would take me all the way up to 135 credits. Do you think that they would allow me to take this many credits beyond the 120 needed for a bachelors degree?
Asked by Edward - Tue Jul 8 19:43:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. As many as you want, as long as you pay for them or stay the extra time. If you're at a private school, they might limit you, but usually it's not to hard to fit a double major in there as long as you don't waste time - they want you done in 4 years. Public schools don't really care - stay as long as you want.

Q. Okay. I plan on taking both the grade 11 and 12 accounting courses at my school. If I pass the classes with a 70% or higher, I get one credit for each class in accounting at collage. I want to know what the benefits of taking these classes and having those two credits in collage is.

A. Well if you do in fact get credit for college, you will already have a college transcript started and two college credits. If they do not count, you still have gained useful knowledge from the classes that will stick with you forever.

A. It depends on the college and program. Some don't require any. Others require as many as 3 credits. You have to have learned the foreign language in a school setting if it is required. Your best bet would be to check with your college's admissions office.

Q. I have many years of experience in management and business. I heard you can use work experience and turn it into college credits. What I would like to know is it matters where I get the college work-credits and if all colleges would accept my credits or are there some colleges that do not accept them?

A. I think it is only a selective few schools that will allow this. One that does seem to provide options for gaining credit for work experience is Empire State College, which is part of the SUNY system in New York. Check their website. Someone there might also be able to refer you to similar programs in other parts of the country, if not around the world. www.esc.edu/esconline/onl ine2.nsf/ESChome.html
