Distance education, or distance learning, is a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy and andragogy, technology, and instructional systems design that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically "on site". According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “is a process to create and provide access to learning when the source of information and the learners are separated by time and distance, or both.” In other words, distance learning is the process of creating an educational experience of equal qualitative value for the learner to best suit their needs outside the classroom. Rather than attending courses in person, teachers and students may communicate at times of their own choosing by exchanging printed or electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate in real time and through other online ways[2]. Distance education courses that require a physical on-site presence for any reason including the taking of examinations is considered to be a hybrid or blended course of study. This emerging technology is becoming widely used in universities and institutions around the globe. With the recent trend of technological advance, distance learning is becoming more recognized for its potential in providing individualized attention and communication with students internationally. In a face to face environment you have body language that give the other person certain cues to what you are talking about. You don't have this in distance learning. The person you are talking to face to face also gives off certain cues as to how they perceive what you are talking about. In distance learning environment you have to be careful how you word your responses because you don't have a physical knowledge of the person you are talking to. It can be very easy to hurt someones feelings because of the lack of the physical cues. If a Bachelor's in marketing isn't doing enough for you, I think another degree in design will do even less for your money. There is a glut of graphic designers out there looking for work right now. The job market sucks for advertising and marketing in general right now. If you want to be employed, a degree in project management is much more versatile and you can still use it within the marketing/advertising field. If that don't pan out a project manager is employable in most fields and a good step towards management. If you really have a passion for design, you can probably teach yourself it, by reading lots of books and online blogs, as well as practicing by doing self assigned projects. Q. I live in Saskatchewan and I want to take a Distance Learning Course for Comptia A+ Certifcation. But I want a reputable school as well.
