Q. I have recently applied for a finance assistant post within local government and the supporting info always makes me freeze. I am easily capable and have been working within this field for many years but find these questions very hard to answer,, please help? Person Spec 1. Detailed experience on all aspect of managing a purchase ledger 2. Experience of accurate and high speed data input 3. Knowledge of computerised accounting systems and spreadsheet applications 4. Experience of cash handling 5. Knowledge of Administration procedures 6. Knowledge of sales and purchase ledger 7. Organisation skills and ability to prioritise own workload 8. Good literacy and numeracy 9. Ability to use spreadsheets 10. Data entry and retrieval from… [cont.]

A. go through each thing on the list and think of times and ultimately examples of when you have done this in previous jobs that may fit that criteria. I know its awful doing job applications and it takes ages but its worth spending time on this as it will get you noticed at application stage
