Universities overseas: How important is it that the University is relatively well known?
Q. I m applying to university this year and am seriously considering sending in applications to several universities overseas. However, the few that I have in mind aren t very well known where I reside, and I m concerned that post graduation this may create some problems for me when the time comes for me to establish a career. So my question to you is: do you think that if I were to attend a more unknown university overseas, would it have much of an impact on me when trying to establish a career in my native country? Thanks for the help and advice!

Does the university of your undergrad make a difference to your medical school application?
Q. I am in the Nanotechnology Engineering program at the University of Waterloo, which is the best engineering program at the best engineering institution in Canada. I am planning to take some of my pre-med courses like Biology and Immunology at my University. Would it make a difference if my university is not that well known for undergraduate studies in sciences? Or does my MCAT score compensate for the quality of my university?
Asked by AcePhoenix - Wed Jun 24 22:23:44 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The university does not matter. It's like you've imagined, the MCAT compensates (or tells) for it all.

What university has the most fans and what university makes the most money selling apparel?
Q. So basically, I just want to know statistics on universites to figure out which one has the most fans and I also would like to know which university makes the most money selling university products. I guess what I am trying to find out, and this may be hard to find. Even though it would have to be broken down by states of course, which university has the most fans overall (fan population) and also perhaps some statistics about the overall university incomes. It's sort of a tough question to answer...

What do prospective university students look in a university?
Q. We all have alot of colleges to choose from, when we are trying to go back to school and I just want to see what exactly it is that people look for in universities and what do they expect to get from the university they finally choose to attend.
Asked by Hooch - Mon Nov 12 00:30:26 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Since people are different, this is quite individual. Some people want a large party school and some want a small school with an intellectual atmosphere. Some even think that a winning sports program is the key to choosing a college. For many it is 'fit'. Does this campus feel right to me. Come up with your own criteria. Does it have good academics in a range of areas (this will make for intellectual diversity on campus)? Is it liberal arts or career/pre-professional? Does it have diversity? Do I like the students (conservative, liberal, religious, rich, . . . ) Then start looking at colleges.

A. The requirements for a teacher varies by state. You will need a certain number of subject matter classes as well as prescribed education classes. You will probably not be able to do all three of the things listed above as an undergraduate. Take one language and education classes. Your state may also require that you pass certain tests. You can also contact your own state department of education for specific information./ The certification requirements for your state will also be found below./

What is the best university to major in Public relations: Boston University or Syracuse university?
Q. Also, do you get the chance to do internships in syracuse university ? Because I know BU is highly recommended for internships. Thanks in advance!
Asked by walz - Wed Oct 28 14:51:04 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are internships at both universities. I've met Syracuse grads, but I haven't met BU grads yet... but likely that's because I live in PA, not in the North east. BU has a good reputation as well... so you'd probably do well at either. Visit both campuses and get a vibe for the departments. Then go to the one that feels right for you. Let me give you an example, when visiting med schools, my girlfriend visited Johns Hopkins, which is often ranked in the top 5, but she got a feeling it was really cut-throat when she visited there, and chose to go elsewhere for med school. I'm sure she'd of been a successful doctor either way, but she was successful where she went, and really liked her program.

A. Have you checked if your University has Nightlife instead of checking Nightlife for University? If that doesn't work.. I don't know what's wrong, you could have something that is conflicting with each game (if you've dl'd any mods that are for a different SIMS Expansion sometimes an expansion won't work since not all mods work with all expansions).

What is a good university to study website design?
Q. I am doing a diploma in IT at the moment, and I am now looking at university courses for next year. What are some of the good universities for studying website design in the UK? I am looking to do a honours degree or a foundation degree. I am also looking for a university with good night life and student accomodation. Thanks, but I am looking to do a website design degree, not a general computing science degree. I know you can do them at a few places.

A. There are two parts to a website; the graphics and the things that you can do with the site. Two different skill sets and taught quite differently. Some people will claim to be able do both but they require different kinds of brain so it isn't really possible. To study graphic design you will need to go to Art school. For the 'parts that move' you will read Computing at a regular uni. This will give you the skills to create the dynamic part of the website plus teach you many other important areas relating to websites such as security, databases, distributed processing etc.

How good are York St John University and University of Chester for their creative writing degrees?
Q. Two universities which will potentially be among my five choices for next year. I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts on creative writing at either university if they are taking/have taken the subject there. Just general thoughts about the universities themselves will also be welcome.

A. I'm at the university of chester and two of my housemates are studying creative writing and english. They both enjoy themselves and feel challenged. They enjoy writing and seem to get good feedback from their lecturers. The University itself is a happy place. It is small and compact which means you see people you know on a regular basis without too much difficulty. A word of warning, University accomodation food is not good. Avoid it if possible. Good luck applying!

How should university students do to choose their subjects?
Q. Some ones think university students should only study one specialist subject. Others think the universities should encourage the students to learn a range of subjects in addition to a specialist area. Give your opinion?

A. In my first year I was allowed to pick from a range of subjects (I could pick 4 in total from about 12). In my second and third years it was more specialised. That is the best way, imo.

What is the difference between College and University?
Q. I live in Canada and attend a University (MUN) and I am almost finished my Bachlor of Science.. Biology Major. I know in Canada there is a big difference in College and University. Here.. University takes 4 years plus additional x amount if you're doing graduate but College you go in for 2-3 years and get a trade and a lower paying job! What is the difference in the States? I hear people saying they are going to College even though it's a university!
Asked by stellar - Sun Apr 13 16:36:35 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The difference between the words college and university depend very much upon where you live. In many cases, in the US, a college refers to a four year advanced education only, and an institution which does not have the accreditation to offer more than a bachelor s degree. College may also be restricted by its modifiers. For example, a technical college may offer Associate of Arts degrees or certification in certain fields only. A junior college or community college also offers a variety of A.A. degrees and certification programs. Traditionally the term college applied to a part of a university. Large universities may be split into colleges or departments that offer different degrees. The University of California, Berkeley, for instance,… [cont.]

How does transfering from one university to another work?
Q. Ok so i am going to go to Eastern Washington Unviersity for 2 years and then transfer to Washington State University. How does that work? Would i get the degree from Washington State University when i graduate? Would i graduate the same time as if i would go to Eastern for 4 years or would i have to take extra classes? Is there a big chance that i won't get accepted by Washington State University? Is it worth transfering or is it just a major headache?
Asked by blond_princess15 - Thu Jan 1 02:29:41 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Ok, I went to Seattle Pacific University and I want to transfer to UW. I talked to them and they said they only accept less from a university without an AA degree. I transfered to a community college close to home to get my AA degree and to get my gpa up because the classes are easier and my gpa is kind of low. You might have a chance if you're grades are high enough and you have taken all the classes you need to get into the major. I am pretty sure that a 4 year school does not offer a 2 year degree. Talk to their admissions and see, it's possible, but not too many people do it. I am sure it would be the same process if you were transfering from high school or with a 2 year degree. I hope this helps!

A. im assuming you're in Canada and you're in grade 12 [or 13] you should start downloading applications, and getting your special PIN Number you'll need to put on your application you do your application, i think for UofT you need references, so get a teacer who knows you really well or a guidance councellor depending on what program yo want to do, marks and averages fluxuate so steps talk to a guidance councelor - optional download an application get PIN number and other documents fill out application wait wait wait wait open letter, that either says your accepted or that you're denied good luck1 ella

What makes the University of Michigan so Highly Ranked?
Q. I am planning on attending garduate school to get my Masters degree in social work (I have a bachelors degree in psychology). I live in Michigan and the main schools that I am looking at are Wayne State University and the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. U of M has been ranked as the #1 school of social work in the country for 10 years straight. Why is the U of M ranked so highly? Would I be better off spending more money going to the U of M or spending less and going to Wayne State? Would I have a better chance at getting a job with the U of M degree or will they both be equal? Thanks. U of M pros: Higher ranked, more prestigious. Wayne State pros: Closer to where I live, costs less. Which is a better option?

A. For both pharmacy school and medical school...you would have to take the prerequisites. Now I know most medical school require: 1 year of introductory biology (2 consecutive courses) 1 year of inorganic general chemistry (2 courses) 1 year of organic chemistry ( 2 courses) 1 year of physics ( 2 courses) 1 year of english ( most only require 1 course but recommend 2 courses of english) - A gpa 3.5 in these courses or higher is what medical school looks for and an overal gpa of 3.5 or higher For Pharmacy school...you only need 2 years minimum of college and do not need to obtain a bachelors degree. here are the requirements for pharmacy school: -1 introductory course of biology (1 course) -1 course in microbiology - 1 year of inorganic… [cont.]

Are there consequences to interrupting a university professor at a lecture?
Q. So me and some friends were planning a prank to play on another university. Walk up to a podium and interrupt a university professor by taking the mic and saying a few words and leaving. Are there any legal consequences to this (legal)? We go to a totally different university.
Asked by Dayan G - Sun Dec 20 22:59:02 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, trespassing, public mischief, etc., and that means an adult criminal record which will make it hard for you to get a job. And if by this act, you bring disrepute upon your own university, you may find yourself expelled by your own school for something you did elsewhere (and yes, they can do this). I suggest you don't do this! You may think it is funny but no one else will and the consequences will be painful for you! *** Addendum: If you take that mike from the person speaking with any kind of force or if the speaker fights back, you could end up charged with criminal assault. Felonies don't look good on your permanent record!
