A. when did ur semester start? Did you decide to have the money sent to the school first and then to you? or did u opt to have the money sent to you and then you send to the school whatever the balance due is? That makes a difference.

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive excess funds through Direct Deposit from University of Phoenix?
Q. My Acct. Shows both the Pell Grant and Student Loans have posted as of 10-14-09. About when should I receive the direct deposit of the excess refund?
Asked by Baby Girl - Fri Oct 16 13:48:03 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It takes about 5 business days after they receive the money before they disburse the funds. After that it takes about another 5 business days before you get it (maybe sooner or later depending on the banks).

A. From the date that it shows receipt should be 7 days till it hits your bank account. Your account should show debit memo, today the 17th, and DD should be done on the 19th. If your account does not show debit memo, they have not sent it to your bank yet... UOP only deposits on Wed and Fridays. If you do not have by Friday, I would call your financial counselor, though I am not sure it will help...;)

To those who go to University of Phoenix and have student loans through them. Quick question?!?
Q. I just received a notice today that effective Oct 9th that those of us that have chosen to manage our own financial aid funds will no longer be able to do so. Apparently the U of Phoenix will retain those funds for future classes and other costs. Does this mean that any excess funds that are not needed for classes will still be credited to us? I was expected some extra money back that I was going to use to purchase a new laptop because mine is now causing quite a few problems, so just wanted some clarification! I've received excess funds from them in the past so I know for a fact that they do give leftover monies to the student. I have a question about University of Phoenix Online...?
Q. I am going to use pell grant and loans to pay for it. Do they disburse the excess funds twice a year? It says on their website that they do not have terms or semesters so how will that work??
Asked by Collin's mommy!! - Wed Nov 11 21:58:41 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Beware of UOP when it comes to these loans and grants. Many people think they have questionable enrollment tactics and often mislead students into thinking they will have full cost of education covered. Read the article below and decide for yourself. $50k is a pretty fair estimate for a degree from UOP but you can save a lot more with other schools and actually earn a better degree in many cases.

University of Phoenix Online Question???? Please HELP!!!!?
Q. Has anyone out there attended the University of Phoenix Online and had trouble getting their excess financial aid funds? I was told 2 weeks ago that my excess private loan funds were put in the mail and sent to me (in excess of $13,000). I was told that it could take up to 7-10 business days for me to receive my money. I still haven't received it. I get the run around from my finance counselor. Anyone in their right minds knows that it doesn't take that long for something to go from Arizona to Michigan (where I live) -- unless they are sending it Pony Express! I even checked with my local post office and they told me the slowest mail (media mail which is used to mail magazines) doesn't take that long! Anyone else had such problems… [cont.]

A. I work for the university of phoenix and usually they will not let you take out a private loan unless you need it to cover your tuition and if that was the case it would not be sent to you it would be used to cover the costs of the school. I would check on your account on the website and see if there is a refund due there. Usually once my financial aid is disbursed it takes 7-10 days before it is mailed out and then it is 5-7 days before i recieve it in the mail. So if you are not able to see anything on your account online then i would call your Finance counselor and see if you are getting a private loan sent out to you.

A. Don't waste your grant and loans on a worthless education from a proprietary (for-profit) college such as UoP. Your community college and state university probably offer better online educational opportunities. If they do not offer the classes you are seeking, investigate the University of Illinois and the University of Maryland which have the most comprehensive online programs in the country. Even with out-of-state tuition costs, your total tuition fees will almost certainly be lower than at UoP. If you live in the West, also look at Western Governors University which offers lower tuition fees to residents of participating states, although it has much smaller list of major subjects available. It just might be that your intended… [cont.]

Has anyone else had financial aid problems with the University of Phoenix?
Q. I enrolled with the University of Phoenix in March of 2008 for an associates degree in accounting. I had two math classes that I was supposed to take at the end of my course program, but tested out for the credits instead. I tested and passed in December and the classes weren't scheduled to occur until February. I finished my last two classes at the very end of January and both my academic and financial counselor were informed in advanced. There was an excess of loan disbursal saved for those two math classes on my account for $2,080. My financial counselor said that there was a chance the lender, Wells Fargo, would ask for the excess back. Last week he e-mailed me and told me that the check was in the mail . . . never mentioning… [cont.]

A. I have not, but I did a google search on University of Phoenix problems and got this: Also, someone sent this to me a year ago to send out via our high school listserv: I am just passing this information on so that others will not be victimized by University of Phoenix. I have been and I'm devastated. These same experiences of these students have been what I've experienced at UOP. Please inform everyone you know not to be scammed by them. It seems the Arizona IG may be investigating the school as well as I was just referred by the Department of Education to them. Here are some links to the Ripoff Report posted on University Of Phoenix.

A. shouldn't these have been questions you asked before you started school? It sounds to me like you need to stop wasting everyones time and money by continuing to take classes that you fail. If you problem is procrastination then perhaps you should attend a school that does a little more hand holding in that regard than an online university would. Having to show up to class empty handed is a great motivator for getting assignments done. Further as someone who does hiring I would be dubious of someone who had an online university on their resume, not to say I wouldn't hire them, but I would be very careful. You should go to your local community college and go talk to one of their advisers. They will help you to find out if you can transfer… [cont.]

I also spoke with my financial aid adviser because I was told the same thing that it has not deposited to my account yet and she said that if it wasn't you would not receive credit balance. I am trying not to get mad at them but anyways. Yeah Monday you should have your money.
